The High Country of Victoria is fast gaining a reputation as one of Australia’s most popular cycling destinations.

Take the Alpine Ascent Challenge. All you need to do is tackle four of the seven alpine peaks of Victoria’s High Country. Tackle Buller’s 16km climb up to the Village on the Mt Buller Tourist Road as a starter. The rise is 909 vertical metres in height, and is used as a training ground for 2008 Tour de France stage winner Simon Gerrans and was one of the legs of the 2008 Jayco Herald Sun Tour. Take on any of the other signature climbs of Mt Hotham and Dinner Plain, Falls Creek, Mt Buffalo, Lake Mountain and Mt Baw Baw ski resorts. Visit www.alpineascentchallenge.com.au to enter.

Competition
To celebrate the 2008 Herald Sun Tour biking up Mt Buller you can also win a Great Buller Cycling Escape and head to the High Country. Kick back at the Mt Buller Chalet Hotel, with a scenic mountain bike winery tour for two and a two-hour intensive downhill mountain biking skills development clinic. Total value $1400.
